Golden.

The latest stars with printed cellophane covers.
Shiny and delicate effect.
I have an order for twenty stars to fill, a bit of work
that hopefully keeps coming.

Thanks for visiting.

Two Colour Stars.

My first attempt at this, I used the flickering LED light,
it was not bright enough to shine through the tissue paper.
The second version works much better. The larger cut outs
weaken  the card stock rigidity. Adding the tissue gives it more
support. Always exploring new materials.

Star & Moon.

New design and process. Second layer of paper added
giving it an opaque printed skin. I'll experiment further
with more colour. I try to improve the product everyday.

September 15th is my last day on Stephen Avenue,
I hope it doesn't rain.

Stubbies.

These are the latest designs for short lanterns.
"Stubbies" my wife called them.
I set up a challenge for my self: make it fold flat
and don't use glue. This is what I got.
It has been quiet around here. I'm not sure who has been looking
at the work. I would appreciate any feedback on some of the
designs and experimental constructions.

Thanks for visiting.

Lanterns with Roses.

A change of settings. I had these at a birthday party,
the kids played with them for a while. It was an
opportunity to check the constructions durability.
The glue stuck, but the paper ripped eventually when
an arm was put through the hex. They aren't toys for
kids, but they took a little rough housing.

Hex-Star-Fire.

Taking the base design from yesterday, I cut out a few star shapes.
Re-designed the top and bottom to be removable for easier packaging
and storage. There are two light sources available: 1 a constant white light
and 2 a flickering candle effect. Two different moods.

I got a visit from the police and fire department.
No, my stars did not catch on fire.
Never put real candles in them.

Thanks for visiting.

Hexahedron?

Two test lanterns. Blue is etched with a blade.
Red is the basic card stock paper. I'll be testing
out other paper stock. The light source is
also new and much brighter. Thanks for visiting.
